After 16 days of staging a sit-in protest at the PT. Huadi Nickel Alloy site, workers affiliated with the Bantaeng Energy Mining Industry Workers Union (SBIPE) finally succeeded in securing tripartite negotiations with the company and the government, resulting in several important agreements.
Previously, on July 28, 2025, at 1:16 PM WITA, SBIPE held the third round of bilateral negotiations during the protest with PT Huadi management, represented by Andi Adrianti Latippa and Muhclis. However, the negotiations failed to reach an agreement, particularly regarding the wages of laid-off workers. The company insisted on the amount of Rp1,500,000, while SBIPE rejected the decision, deeming it unilateral and unacceptable. As a result of the failed negotiations, the sit-in protest at the gates of PT Huadi resumed.
The deadlock prompted the deployment of approximately 120 joint security personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Bantaeng Police, and the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) from the South Sulawesi Provincial Police. The security personnel were stationed around the area near the company gate, reportedly to exert pressure and influence the psychological state of the labor union. Despite this, the presence of security personnel did not deter the workers, who continued to remain steadfast and rally solidarity.
