The People Over Profit network strongly condemns the PNP’s (Philippine National Police) brutal dispersal and illegal detention of national minority groups and allies during a protest rally yesterday October 19, 2016 at the US embassy in Manila, Philippines. The demands of our indigenous and Moro brothers and sisters are just and legitimate – calling for an end to US intervention in the Philippines and an end to the corporate plunder of their ancestral lands. But they were instead met with truncheons, water cannons, as some were rammed by a police van leaving scores injured in the aftermath.
In solidarity with our indigenous and Moro brothers and sisters, we are postponing the People Over Profit network launch that was originally scheduled for today at the Lakbayan ng Pambansang Minorya 2016 camp grounds in UP Diliman, Philippines.
